Canine Care Certified Program at Purdue Veterinary University

Posted on April 13, 2022 by Pinnacle Pet

Canine Care Certified is a program backed by a land-grant university that is nationally recognized and trusted by consumers as one of the top veterinary schools in the nation, Purdue Veterinary University. The average pet owner is not familiar with the day-to-day life of a dog breeder but is deeply concerned with the welfare of the parents of puppies they would like to buy. Purdue’s program alleviates that concern.

The standards that breeders must meet to become Canine Care Certified are based on studies of professional kennels conducted by Purdue University scientists. Following the standards of care in this program leads to better health outcomes for adult dogs and puppies. Their breeders have smaller vet bills, and rehoming transitions are smooth regarding both health and behavior. In addition to all these benefits, marketing is made easy. A fringe benefit of CCC is the time and money saved on marketing because consumers across the country already know and trust Purdue Veterinary University.

Unlike other certifying entities, the CCC program has a third-party auditor that ensures breeders follow the standards while also providing a comfortable experience for breeders and their beloved dogs. All the auditors are highly qualified, personable, familiar with agricultural settings, and trained by the scientists at Purdue. Feedback from current Canine Care Certified breeders ranks Canine Care Certified audits as less stressful than other entity inspections for both dogs and their caretakers.

The health, behavioral, and financial benefits of the program have made it more and more popular. Over one hundred certifications have been completed. Now that more breeders are sharing their experiences and confirming the benefits to their peers, it is not surprising to see the Canine Care Certified website showing another one hundred forty-nine kennels finishing up their applications. The whole pet care community is excited to see how this program affects public perceptions now that it seems to be a leading choice among the best in the industry to showcase their high standards of care.
